Training in Washington, DC

Well, I arrived in Washington, DC on February 6th. It just turned out to be the warmest for that date in history for that city--74 degrees. This view is actually from Reagan National Airport in Arlington. The Potomac lies between the airport and Washington. This site is beautiful at night because the capitol is whiter than it is in this picture. Everytime I land in our nation's capital, I have to pinch myself and realize I am really here. The next few days were filled with training; I never left the hotel except to head for the airport for my return flight home.

Last year when I came back to Washington for training the temperature was in the single digits. We had some of our training at the memorials outside. Plus, when the training was over, I had to walk from Union Station to a testing site where I would obtain my guide license for Washington, DC (talk about freeze-dried synapses!).

It's hard to imagine that I will begin my third season of guiding this year. I am posting a picture of our training. We were to act out our vision and mission statement as well as distinctives that set us apart from other educational tour companies. It was wonderful working with my colleagues and problem solving on things we encounter in the field.
